"I am frustrated. I am a current State Farm client and have been for ages. I am currently searching for a new agent who will be my advocate and value my business. I contacted Margie Williams' office to arrange a meeting. It was painful to get is scheduled. I was told I could not meet with her because I was already a client of another agent. I explained again I was just wanting to meet Margie Williams to see if she might be a better fit for me. Finally the young man scheduled an appointment for next week. I actually called State Farm's customer service center yesterday and asked if it was standard practice for not allowing potential new agents to not speak with existing clients and I was told that was absolutely not the practice. Today I received a voicemail from Margie Williams' office saying the meeting is being cancelled because I need to give my current agent a chance to save the business. What? It is my money, my policies, my choice - how does State Farm have the audacity to say otherwise? In the end this is just confirmation that Margie Williams' office does not deserve my business...maybe State Farm does not deserve it at all either. What has happened to honest, professional businesses and leaders being there for their existing or future clients?"

As we explained in our email correspondence with you, we are sorry you were frustrated with how we handle requests from State Farm customers who already have a local State Farm agent. In your case, you have 2 local State Farm agents. It is our practice to request that State Farm customers speak with their current State Farm agent to give their current agent the opportunity to resolve any concerns the customer may have with the agent or agent’s office. We have found over the years that this practice has resolved most issues customers have and they continue with their current agent. This is a long-standing procedure to respect established agent-client relationships across the State Farm enterprise. It is also a professional courtesy that I extended to fellow State Farm agents. When this conversation does not resolve a customer’s issues, we are happy to meet or discuss next steps. Thank you, Margie Williams, Agent."
